Therapy at Jasper Grove

Medicine steadies you. Therapy changes things.

Medication and detox get you stable — but the lasting work happens in therapy. At Jasper Grove, therapy runs through residential treatment: private hours, shared groups, family repair, and evidence-based methods that build the skills recovery is made of.

Skills for lasting recovery

Building a life that holds.

Recovery lasts when everyday life supports it. This is the practical footing to stand on after treatment.

Rounding out care

More than the core therapies.

Alongside the clinical work, the program includes expressive therapies and peer-support meetings — different doors into the same recovery.

Expressive therapies

Art and music therapy give recovery another language — a way to work through what's hard to put into words.

Peer-support meetings

On-site 12-Step meetings (AA and NA) and SMART Recovery — the community and tools you can keep leaning on long after treatment.

About SMART Recovery
Part of your care

Therapy isn't a separate bill or a program you sign up for — it's part of residential treatment at Jasper Grove, accepted through Indiana Medicaid and most major insurance. We're accredited by The Joint Commission, and we verify your exact cost up front before you commit to anything.

Common questions

Therapy at Jasper Grove, answered.

What kinds of therapy do you offer?
Individual and group therapy form the core, with family involvement, and specific approaches including CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care and life-skills work. Art and music therapy and on-site peer-support meetings — both 12-Step and SMART Recovery — run alongside. Which approaches your plan draws on depends on your assessment.
Do I get to choose my therapy?
Your treatment plan is built with you rather than handed to you, and preferences matter — particularly around trauma work, where pace and consent are part of the method. What approach fits is a clinical judgment made together rather than a menu you pick from.
How often will I have therapy?
Individual sessions are a regular part of your week, and group therapy runs most days as part of the residential schedule. Your counselor sets the rhythm with you based on your treatment plan.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share is protected health information held within your care team to guide your treatment, and substance use records carry stricter federal protection than ordinary medical records. The exceptions are narrow and safety-related, and your counselor will tell you what they are.
What if I've had bad experiences with therapy before?
Say so early — it's useful clinical information rather than an obstacle, and a poor fit with one therapist or one approach doesn't predict the next. Being able to name what didn't work makes it more likely the next attempt does.
Do you offer EMDR?
Yes. EMDR is among the trauma approaches available at Jasper Grove. Whether it's used depends on your assessment and whether it fits you.
